25 by 25 – one month update

See my original post about my 25 by 25 challenge

It’s one month into my 25 by 25 challenge, and I have some exciting updates!

  1. I’m right on track.  I’ve lost 5 lbs this month!  I’m feeling lighter, and I’ve noticed a bunch of differences in my overall body shape – my shoulders are more squared off, and I can feel the muscles in my arms and legs becoming much more toned.
  2. On Friday I wore a dress to work that I have never worn before because it was always slightly too small.  It fit perfectly, and if I do say so myself, I looked great!!
  3. On Saturday I tried on a dress in my regular size, and the sales lady helping me said “That dress is way too big, let me get you a smaller size.” Again, that smaller size fit like a glove, and I did a little happy dance in the fitting room.
  4. I didn’t get any ‘before’ pictures, but here are some 1-month pictures:

Last week we had to do a diet for school, and I’m feeling a lot less bloated and puffy than I was in the weeks before.  I’ll give you more details about that diet later this week.  I’ve definitely noticed further improvements in my bum and legs from Booty Camp Fitness, but sadly there is no classes in March, so I’ll be away from it for a few weeks.

The weather here in Toronto has finally crept up above freezing, and I’m hoping to get my first outdoor run of the year after school today.

What’s your favourite non-bootcamp workout?  Zumba? 80’s-style aerobics? Jillian Michaels? Please leave your suggestions, and I’ll attempt as many as I can!

Time to pick up my socks!

Firstly, I want to apologize for being so absent the last 6 weeks or so.  I don’t remember if I explained it before, but  my school schedule works somewhat like this:

  • We go to class Monday through Thursday from 10am to 2pm
  • We have one class on Monday/Wednesday, and another on Tuesday/Thursday
  • These classes run anywhere from 8-14 sessions, so approx 4-7 weeks
  • Once the class is finished, we immediately begin the next class in our schedule

We are currently in our 3rd round of classes.  The classes taken so far have been:

  • Biological Chemistry
  • Nutrition & The Environment
  • Psychology of Disease
  • Ayurveda
  • Comparative Diets (Currently taking this class)
  • Fundamentals of Nutrition (current)

Biochem and Nutrition and the Environment were very science-y, which fit me well because my brain understands science very well.  Psych and Ayurveda were a completely different story.  Both classes were very introspective and involved a lot of self-analysis.  4 weeks of delving deep into my brain, which is something I’m not used to.  Combine that will the stress of trying to find a part time job, I was, to take a line from Anchorman, Locked in a Glass Cage of Emotion.  The bright point of the last weeks has been bootcamp, giving me the boost I needed to keep my spirits up.  Consequently, I was a little lax in my housekeeping for the past few weeks.  On Thursday and Friday of last week, I drove to Buffalo NY with my mom to do some Christmas shopping.  We didn’t find many gifts for others, but lots of great stuff for ourselves! ;-) When I got home on Friday afternoon, I was greeted with this:

Which I quickly remedied.

Much better!

I don’t know about you, but I always feel better after de-cluttering and cleaning.  My favourite outlet for anger or frustration is my stovetop.  I have a glass stovetop, and it gets crazy dirty, no matter what I do.  The best remedy for a bad day? Scrub the heck out of that dang stove.

After cleaning up the house, I feel cleansed.  I’ve put the Psych mind voo-doo behind me, and I’m diving into Comparative Diets and Fundamentals with energy I forgot I had.  Our teacher is amazing, and the material is just so interesting!  You can expect to hear a lot about fats, proteins, carbs, fibre, and the differences between popular diets in the next few weeks.

I’ve got some fun posts coming up this week!  I had an exciting weekend, and there is lots of baking in my future!!
