I had a bunch of salads, and a sandwich thin with grilled eggplant, zucchini, summer squash, marinated tofu, and cheese.  It was my first time trying this type of tofu, and it was really good.  It blended with the flavours of the veggies really well and kept me full all afternoon.  I also partook in some yummy desserts, a chocolate brownie and lemon tart.

The first afternoon session was time management, led by Sarah, Kath, and Morgan.

They had so many amazing tips!  I think this was the presentation that I learned the most from, I love hearing other people’s tips on what keeps them organized.

The second afternoon presentation was from Chandra, talking about “the 5 w’s of strength training.” I don’t know very much about this subject, so I was glad to go and learn something new.

Our afternoon snack was sponsored by Athenos and featured yummy feta, hummus, and pita chips.

The last presentation of the day was “Stop Staring Over Your Shoulder” a great discussion about avoiding the self-comparison trap.  After the last panel we disbanded and went back to our rooms to get ready for our evening events.

Healthy Living Summit – Saturday part 1

I woke up Saturday morning full of energy and ready for a great day!!

I made my way up to the Grand Room and saw Meghann and Tina checking people in.  (I’m not sure why Tina has an “Oh No!” face on here!)

Breakfast was sponsored by Stoneyfield, Thomas, and Quaker, and it was truly a smorgasbord of breakfast-y delights.

I ended up with a bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar, raisins, and some really delicious granola.  I heaped the berries on top of the oats, and they were so yummy and fresh.  A bit of pineapple, orange juice, a carrot muffin, and an adora chocolate calcium supplement rounded out my delicious breakfast.

After breakfast, Miranda and I wandered over to talk to the sponsors.  Everyone was so nice and tried their best to answer our questions about finding their products in Canada, or when they might become available to us.  The sponsors for the healthy living summit were Arnold/Orowheat, Thomas’ bagel thins, Stoneyfield Yogurt, Quaker, OpenSky, Subway, Athenos, FritoLay, Attune, and Adora.  Every person we talked to from each of these sponsors was so helpful and full of information.

Our Keynote speaker for the conference was Christine M. Palumbo, a registered dietician.  Her presentation was very well done, look for my “HLS Sessions” update for all the juicy details.

After Christine spoke, everyone broke off into their chosen first session.  I went downstairs to the “Fueling for Fitness” session, which was amazingly informative.  Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures from the presentation, I was too busy taking notes!!

We broke for a snack, and I managed to stop Caitlin and get her to sign my Operation Beautiful Book!

After I gawked at my first ever signed-by-the-author book, I went back downstairs for “Stepping up your blog photography”

Nicole did a great job with this presentation, she had a lot of tips to help us understand our cameras better.  I can’t wait to try out her advice!!
