I’ve been feeling some pretty serious pre-race jitters today, my brain is full of questions like:
- What if I trip someone?
- What if someone trips me?
- What if I make some sort of hideous race-etiquette gaffe?
- What if I don’t meet my goal?
- What if I can’t finish?
This is generally how my brain works, taking me deeper and deeper into doubt until I manage to give myself a shake and try to snap out of it. I have found that the best thing to do is to make sure I’m as prepared as possible.
I’ve got my gear laid out, my chip and bib securely fastened, and all of my gadgets charged.
If you follow me on twitter you will have seen me tweet about buying a camelbak this afternoon. I’ve been wanting to try one out, and hubby and I happened to be near Bass Pro Shop, so I popped in to check it out. I bought the cheapest model they had, and I really like it! I tested it out this afternoon to the amusement of my hubs. Apparently it’s funny to see your wife sitting on the couch watching a movie with a camelbak strapped to her back? Even though I haven’t tested it on a run before, I think I will take my chances and run with it tomorrow. It’s supposed to be hot and humid, and the first water station is more than 3k into the 5k race. Now, if I’m feeling sick or faint, there will be some big burly firemen waiting for me at that water station, but I’d rather not take my chances.
I’m making my playlist now, and then it’s off to bed because I have an early start tomorrow!!
